Swami Vivekananda - the greatest and the most
illumined of all the Hindu savants and philosophers,
had one core idea in all his teachings and preaching.
The idea for whose manifestation, the great soul
sacrificed and renounced his social life to the
austerities of monastic way. The idea that stands
eternally above every gospel and religion-"God is
present in every human being."
The idea is so limpid and simple that easily
sinks in every human brain to its very depths, but
the profundity of its abstractness makes it
adamant for absorption by material mind. How could
the mundanely prejudiced mind conceive the idea
of a single universal soul -"The God" existing
intact in billions of individual entities. For the
manifestation of such abstract philosophies by the
"Grey Matter" (Mind) one should always look for the
peering examples in the materialistic world itself.
For realization of this divine gospel on can examine
the minutest form of life- a microbe.Consider a microbe
to epitomize the "universal soul". Under mitotic division the microbe divides and forms two
identical offspring, which on a little development become exactly akin to their parent microbe in all their attributes and qualities. These two microbes divide further and the process perpetuates to
form new individual microbes, all similar to each
other and to their initial parent.
This example simplifies the intricacy of Swamiji's
great idea to a nicety and leaves it modest to be engrossed by human mind. Just like every offspring microbe represents an exact replica of its initial parent, every human soul is in itself a complete
God-descendent of the "universal soul",irrespective
of the physical body it is incarnated into.
But here is a slight difference in the two situations,
whereas the development of offspring microbe to peer
its parent is spontaneous and natural, its not the
case with the spiritual development of soul. To
realize and inherit the divine attributes in one's
soul one has to put in excruciating efforts and
learn to meditate. But once your soul reaches
that divine eminence where you hear its inner
voice saying "the gospelous idea", all your
pain transforms into bliss and this mortal body
becomes an abode of divine, whom earlier you were seeking in idols.
